The Story of How I Met My Husband Adam | A Personal Love Story
I knew of my husband, Adam, long before I ever met him! I had heard stories about him and seen his socials. We had even been in a few of the same places at the same time.
A few of Adam & I’s first photos together in 2018!
Growing up, I lived in Elk Rapids, Michigan—a town I loved and where I went to school. In middle school, we moved, and I made new friends in Kalkaska. I then switched schools and began hanging out with those friends. Just like in Elk Rapids, where we roamed the streets biking and visited the beach, I did the same in Kalkaska. One of our friends had some skate ramps where we would hang out, and it turns out my now-husband was there often too, although he was dating someone else at the time. Later, we attended some of the same shows in Kalkaska, as well as Torch Lake parties and more. We even shared some mutual friends! It’s so intriguing to know he was around all along—that my best friend and now husband was nearby, even if it just wasn’t the right time yet.
In 2018, I was scrolling through Tinder when I saw Adam pop up, and we started talking right away. My dad hosted the Grand Traverse Bodybuilding Competition each year, and I was working the 2018 event. Adam happened to be friends with one of the competitors, so we decided to meet there. I had no idea how drawn I would be to him—I knew immediately, and he felt it too. After the show, he called and asked if he could take me out to dinner that evening. We went, and then spent the rest of the evening talking in his truck until 2 a.m.
A few more photos from our early days together.
Adam’s job often takes him out of town, especially around the time we met, but every moment he was home, we spent together. I still remember the moment he told me he loved me—it was not even a month after we met. I thought he might have said it by mistake because it was so early, but it was no mistake! Only four months after meeting, he proposed!
We often went to cookouts at his grandparents’ house—a place that holds deep meaning for Adam and his family since he spent much of his childhood there. He planned a cookout and invited my family, wanting everyone to get to know each other. Or so I thought—he was actually planning a surprise proposal for me in front of all our family and friends! He had a camera set up to take photos with everyone, and in between, he got down on one knee and proposed. It was so special to me, and I’m so glad our family was able to capture the moment on camera. I was in shock and barely managed to say “yes!”

We married a couple of years later with our son Noah by our side. Now, after seven years together and five years of marriage, we have two sweet baby boys too!
