Autumn & Paul’s Surprise Proposal on the Boardman Lake Trail

There’s something especially meaningful about a proposal in Northern Michigan, especially in early spring. The air feels fresh, the water sparkles, and everything feels like it’s just beginning again.

Paul reached out to me with a thoughtful plan to propose to Autumn along the Boardman Lake Trail in Traverse City. From the very first message, it was clear how much intention he put into every detail.

Planning a Traverse City Proposal

Paul told Autumn they were heading out for breakfast and a casual walk on the trail, something they loved doing together. Behind the scenes, though, he had mapped out the exact spot where he wanted to propose. He even timed the walk so they would arrive at the perfect moment.

The location he chose was quiet and tucked away — a small bridge stretching over the water, surrounded by stillness and early spring light. It felt peaceful, private, and incredibly fitting for them.

The Moment It All Happened

I arrived early and blended in, pretending to enjoy the view while watching ducks along the water. When Autumn and Paul walked by, I subtly grabbed my camera.

Within seconds, Paul was down on one knee.

Autumn’s reaction was pure emotion. She was completely surprised, overwhelmed in the best way, and glowing with joy. The connection between them was undeniable. It felt intimate, intentional, and deeply personal.

And the ring? A stunning pear-shaped diamond that perfectly matched Autumn — elegant, unique, and timeless.
