I was SO happy when Markie reached out to me for family photos, especially since their beautiful daughter, Sutton, was about to turn one! It means the world to me when families I’ve photographed in the past ask me to capture their milestones again. I had the joy of taking Markie and Cody’s maternity photos, so getting to see Sutton now, almost one, and witnessing how their beautiful family has grown—it’s truly one of my favorite parts of being a photographer.

The Traverse City area is famous for its cherry orchards, and springtime brings the most breathtaking blossoms—one of my all-time favorite backdrops for photos. The beauty is simply unparalleled, and when you add a gorgeous family to the mix, it’s pure magic.

When is the best time to book a cherry blossom session in Northern Michigan?
Cherry blossoms in the Traverse City area typically peak in May, but bloom times can vary depending on the weather. If you're hoping for a spring session in the orchards, I recommend reaching out early to secure your spot!
What should we wear for our family session?
Soft, neutral tones and pastels photograph beautifully against the cherry blossoms! Flowy dresses, classic textures, and coordinating (but not overly matching) outfits create a timeless look. If you need outfit inspiration, I’m always happy to help!
Where do sessions take place?
I shoot in some of the most beautiful orchards and open fields in Northern Michigan, especially near Traverse City! I can also suggest locations based on the look you’re going for.
What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
Spring weather can be unpredictable, but we’ll have a backup plan! If it’s a little cloudy, we can still capture beautiful images. If it’s raining, we’ll find the best option—whether that’s a new date or a cozy alternative location.
