There’s just something magical about a proposal in Northern Michigan—especially in early spring, when the air is crisp, the water sparkles, and the trees are just starting to show signs of new life. Paul reached out to me with the sweetest plan to propose to his girlfriend, Autumn, in Traverse City along the Boardman Lake Trail, and I was so excited to help bring it to life.
Paul had everything carefully thought out. He told Autumn they’d grab breakfast and then go for a casual hike—something they love doing together. He mapped out the perfect section of the trail and even timed how long it would take to get to the exact spot he wanted to pop the question.
The spot he picked was stunning—a quiet little bridge that juts out into the water, surrounded by views of the bay and the stillness of early spring. I arrived early, pretending to hang out by the water, casually watching the ducks and birds so I wouldn’t look suspicious. The moment they walked by, I subtly grabbed my camera, and before Autumn even realized what was happening, Paul was down on one knee.
Her reaction was priceless—she was completely surprised and overwhelmed with emotion. You could feel the love between them. It was intimate, thoughtful, and so full of heart. Being there to document it was an absolute honor.
The ring? A stunning pear-shaped diamond that was just as unique and beautiful as Autumn.
