Ferguson Family’s Spring Newborn Session in Northern Michigan
There are families who stay with you long after a session ends, and the Ferguson family is absolutely one of them.
Several years ago, Miayan reached out to me to photograph their pregnancy announcement for their first baby, Ember. Since then, I’ve had the honor of capturing Ember’s newborn photos, their family sessions, their second baby announcement, and now, welcoming baby Miles. Over the years, watching this family grow has been incredibly meaningful, and being trusted with these moments is something I never take lightly.
A Meaningful Newborn Session at Home and Outdoors
Miles’ newborn session took place on a beautiful spring day in Northern Michigan. That day, we split our time between their home and the golf course just outside. As a result, the session felt relaxed, natural, and true to their everyday life.
Some of my favorite moments happened inside their home, in what was once Ember’s nursery and is now Miles’ nursery as well. Little details like that carry so much meaning. They quietly tell the story of how families grow, shift, and make room for new chapters.
Capturing the Sweet, Fleeting Season of Newborn Life
What I love most about newborn sessions like this is how unhurried they feel. There’s space for snuggles, for siblings to adjust, and for parents to simply be present. During those moments, the Ferguson family settled in so effortlessly, and the love between them was felt in every frame.
From cozy in-home portraits to soft spring light outdoors, this session was a perfect reflection of this season of life. It felt tender, calm, and full of connection.
Why Northern Michigan Newborn Sessions Are So Special
Northern Michigan offers a beautiful balance for newborn photography. Whether we’re documenting quiet moments at home or stepping outside for a few relaxed family portraits, these sessions feel deeply personal and grounded. They’re not about perfection. Instead, they’re about preserving what this season really felt like.
Ferguson family, thank you for trusting me again and again to document your growing story. Getting to know your family over the years has been such a gift, and I’m so grateful to call you friends.
