As a Northern Michigan wedding photographer, I spend most of my time behind the camera documenting other people’s stories — wedding days, growing families, and meaningful moments. Every once in a while, though, it feels really special to step in front of the camera and capture a small piece of your own story through branding photos as a Northern Michigan wedding photographer.
Cheleana and I spent months planning new branding photos for each other, and I had no idea just how much I would fall in love with the experience. As someone who’s almost always behind the camera, stepping in front of it felt equal parts vulnerable and empowering.
These sessions reminded me how meaningful it is to be seen, especially as a creative business owner. Watching Cheleana and Mandie thoughtfully arrange images of my work, film negatives, and personal details was such a special part of the process. They were also the best hype girls, which made the entire experience feel fun, relaxed, and genuinely encouraging.

I started the morning getting ready at Beeline Beauty Co., and I’m so grateful for the experience. They’re incredibly talented, and my makeup felt polished while still looking like me — exactly what you hope for when stepping in front of the camera.
On the way to the studio, I picked up florals from Sunday Morning Flowers, and Leah absolutely knocked it out of the park. The arrangement was stunning and the colors were perfect. It was one of those small details that truly brought everything together and added such a beautiful finishing touch to these branding photos as a Northern Michigan wedding photographer.
