Jakob and Margaret’s fall wedding at Mill Pond Event Center in Northern Michigan was something I had been looking forward to ever since Margaret’s very first email. We took their Northern Michigan engagement photos in the fall of 2023, and from the beginning, it was clear how much they valued meaningful moments and being fully present together.
That engagement session felt easy and natural. Because of that, I knew their wedding day would be something truly special.
More than anything, this day wasn’t just about beautiful photos. It was about creating a wedding experience that felt calm, intentional, and deeply connected to the people they love most.
A Calm and Intentional Wedding Morning
On the morning of their wedding, I arrived at a home filled with laughter, excitement, and familiar faces. Even with all the anticipation, the atmosphere felt calm and unhurried.
Margaret was just as excited as I was about her detail photos. Because she had gathered everything ahead of time, each piece felt thoughtful and personal. Nothing felt rushed or overlooked.
Her sentimental details were beautiful without feeling overdone. Her wedding dress, in particular, was timeless in the most classic, elegant way. From the very beginning, the tone of the day felt relaxed, meaningful, and grounded.
Meaningful Moments Before the Ceremony
One of my favorite moments of the day happened quietly, before the ceremony even began. Margaret’s mom helped her into her wedding dress, and the room instantly felt still.
It was tender. Emotional. And incredibly meaningful.
Moments like this are why I photograph weddings the way I do. When couples feel supported and unrushed, these interactions unfold naturally. Often, they become the memories that matter most years later.
That kind of space doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from thoughtful planning and surrounding yourself with vendors who care just as much about the experience as they do the final outcome.
A Beautiful Catholic Wedding Ceremony
Jakob and Margaret were married at St. Mary of the Woods Church, where their Catholic wedding ceremony was filled with reverence and emotion. Nearly every pew was full, and it was impossible not to feel how deeply loved they are by their family and friends.
As Margaret walked down the aisle, Jakob’s reaction said everything. In that moment, time seemed to slow down.
Being trusted to document moments like this is something I never take lightly. I felt incredibly honored to be there.

After the ceremony, we spent time capturing wedding portraits before heading to their reception at Mill Pond Event Center. The flow of the day felt intentional and well cared for, which allowed Jakob and Margaret to fully enjoy each moment.
They were never rushed. Never pulled in too many directions.
